Japanese Good Luck Embroidery: Semamori

about this event

This is a family activity!

Join guest artist Mitsugu Sasaki, who is coming from Japan for a special exhibition of his works, as he shows and guides us on the process of hand-stitching a Semamori sign on a piece of clothing of your choice.

The Semamori sign is traditionally added as a wish for protection, health and good luck.

The workshop will teach how to use the traditional Sashiko tools: embroidery needle and cotton thread.

You can bring a garment of your own or choose to work on a provided piece of fabric with Sashiko stitching needles and cotton thread.

Kids age 7 and up are welcome with a parent/guardian!!
