Join us at the Soft Space by Mama Glow for an afternoon of sacred movement, ancestral rhythms, and folklore of the Lucumí Orisha tradition. This class centers Yemayá and Ochún, we encourage mother-daughter duos to come take this class together. 

Class Format:

This class will begin with a movement session guided by Yemayá and Ochún, the goddesses of womanhood, humanity, maternity, and the Divine Feminine through an hour yoga class. Afterwards, we will close with a Meditation for all attendees, connecting us to Spirit in a time where spiritual connection is needed most, and offering an opportunity to think about maternity: how do we mother ourselves? 

How do our mother-daughter dynamics shift through time? How can Spirit allow us to heal mother wounds?

This class is open to all and centers Women of Color, mothers and daughters, sisters, biological and chosen, mother figures, aunties, and those looking to deepen their knowledge of La Regla de Lucumí and African Atlantic Spirituality.

Djali Brown-Cepeda, founder of Ancestral Allchemy

Djali Brown-Cepeda is a Cultural Preservationist working within the archival, and film and television, space to preserve Latino and Caribbean histories of New York City, celebrate the triumphs of marginalized communities, and dispel one-note narratives often associated with Black, Brown, and Native folk within visual media. As an Afro-Indigenous-Caribeña and Olorisa (initiated priestess) of Yemaya with La Regla de Lucumí, her work centers oral tradition and lived experiences as a pathway toward the reclamation of identity, culture, and history.

She is the founder of NuevaYorkinos, a digital archive and multimedia project documenting Latino and Caribbean New York City through family photographs, videos, and stories, and Ancestral Allchemy: a educational and wellness space rooted in African Atlantic Tradition.
