About Your Guide:

Kaili Aniya, founder of Doula Deity

Kaili Aniya, a Jamaican descendant from New York, is a Doula and a small business owner, and founder of Doula Deity, a brand that represents divine femininity through feminine health, skin care, doula support, and most of all self love. Kaili became interested in women’s health and birth work during her freshman year of high school. She suffered from excruciating menstrual pain from the age of 11 which was one obstacle that sparked her interest. Another overwhelming issue that sparked her  interest in this field was infertility that women are facing as well as the increased number of maternal deaths in the African American community. Kaili eventually learned that we can get through this by going back to our roots and taking control of our birth experiences. Kaili believes that our ancestors left us with the tools that we need to be healthy, have healthy menstrual cycles, healthy children and beautiful birth experiences.

Aside from becoming a doula and focusing on maternal health, Kaili quickly learned that an important part of women’s health that often goes overlooked is Self Love. Join her on this journey of self discovery, liberation, and healing through movement.

West African dance has been a liberating force for Kaili in many areas of her life, early childhood, adolescence and now again in adulthood. Movement, rhythm, music, and vibrations are necessary for our release. Kaili’s love for dance started in early childhood. She loved all dance genres but Hip Hop and West African were her absolute favorites. She learned and practiced West African dance from many amazing instructors at local dance studios in her community, dance teams at school, the YMCA, Mark Morris Dance Group, and more.

Throughout her  journey with West African dance and self expression, She learned about beading. Specifically, waistbeads! Kaili spent many years learning about waistbeads and how they are used and honored by women across the African diaspora. She started to create her own waist beads and adornments with the intention to balance chakras, set goals, empower others, express self love and care, sensuality and most of all tapping into your divine feminine.
