Join us for a Meditation Retreat in the Redwood forest that is remarkable and transformational. The retreat is at Land of Medicine Buddha, a working Buddhist Monastery. Though we will be learning advanced Yoga techniques and philosophy, often not seen in studios, no matter your experience level, all are welcome here.

This retreat focuses on Mindfulness and the joy of the Redwood Forest. We will offer peaceful comfort and ease, even if you have never meditated or tried Yoga before. All planned activities are up to your discretion.  

This retreat is approved by both IAYT and Yoga Alliance for 30 Continuing Education (APD/CE) credits for Yoga Therapists and/or Teachers. What’s included

  • 5 days & 4 nights: Comfortable accommodations (options for single, couple, and shared accommodations).
  • Mindful Dining: 6 warm and sumptuous organic vegetarian meals.
  • Optional 30 Continuing Ed Credits: 30 IAYT and/or YogaAlliance Credits for Certified Yoga Therapists and/or Teachers. Requires extra time training with us & assignments. Please add on the “30 Credits for Yoga Professionals” option at checkout.
  • Freedom of Choice: All listed offerings are optional. You are not expected to do any or/all of the program. The exception is for those who wish to receive IAYT/YA credits, and who will be required to attend certain classes.
  • All Levels Yoga: Daily, 3 full Yoga classes are offered with postures, breathwork, and meditation for positive health.
  • Daily Dharma Talks: Guest teachers and Venerables teaching life lessons., including meditation techniques, philosophy, Buddha stories, and more.
  • Morning Pranyama: Optional 30-minute breathwork practice before the morning Yoga Asana.
  • Meditation Facilities: Opportunities to meditate at Land of Medicine Buddha’s beautiful facilities, including the Gompa, the Wish-Fulfilling Temple, Outdoor Prayer Wheels, the 8-Verses Trail, the Redwoods, and more.
  • Walking Meditations: Guided walking meditations in the Redwoods, utilizing the Land of Medicine Buddha’s sacred grounds and spiritual rituals.
  • Meditation Lessons: Diverse daily meditation instruction.
  • Nightly Sound Experiences: Nightly gentle Yoga, Pranayama, and Sound Experiences while you rest.
  • Morning Silence: All retreat-goers will engage in silence from sunrise to afternoon.
  •  Take-Home Manual: To learn more about Yoga philosophy and tools and enhance your Yoga experience.
  • Private Conversations: One-on-one private conversations about your personal practices.
  • Uplifting Relationships: We arrive alone and like the forest, return with a deep knowing of unity.
  • Hiking or Strolling: 108 miles of hiking trails in the Redwood Forest.
  • Optional Silence: Optional vow of 12 or 24 hours of silence.
  • Shopping: A unique assortment of secular, spiritual, and Buddhist LMB gifts, including books, jewelry, scarves, prayer beads, incense, ceremonial gifts, and more to remember your weekend and share the joy.
  • Tipping: Demonstration of your happiness and satisfaction to staff.
  • Not included: All transportation to and from the Land of Medicine Buddha is not included in your payment. However, we do arrange for no-host group transportation services to/from SJC (San Jose Airport). See below for more details.

You will receive a take-home manual to enhance your yoga experience. This guide will make use of the Patanjali Yoga Sutra: 8 Limbs of Yoga, as well as the 4-Fold Process as inspired by the Mahayana Tradition, and the 4 R’s from the Gitananda Tradition, which will be discussed throughout the retreat.

Travel Information:

Nearest airport: San Jose Airport (SJC). 

Optional Shuttle service to and from the airport to Land of Medicine Buddha (LMB)

Pick up from SJC is at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 3rd. 

Pick up from LMB is at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 7th.

Extra Fees: At-cost, directed by the shuttle service (estimated $33.00 per guest).
