Who is Elaheh?
Elaheh is an Iranian vocalist and creative healer who works with sound and voice as a healing method. She chants and weaves Persian lyrics into her sounds accompanied by a Shruti Box, a harmonium-like instrument with Chinese and Indian roots. She thrives when people are brought together to co-create, collaborate, and share experiences.
The Power of Sound
Sounds are powerful when we allow our voices freedom to release them. We can use sounds to both release and invite in emotions.
Elaheh will guide you to channel your breath and posture to release sound. In her practice, she uses a Shruti Box, an instrument with Chinese and Indian roots, which produces a soothing drone sound, and is a beautiful accompaniment to the voice.
What to Expect
Release all expectations! This workshop encourages you to come with an expansive mind and heart. You don’t have to be a singer or musician to come. We all have a voice we can use!
You are welcome to bring your mother or daughter.
In this workshop, we want you to release expectations of how you should sound, how you should look, and how you might be judged. We are creating a sacred and safe space to heal and ground, free of judgment. Let yourself be free to explore your sound, to get loud, to just be. We are holding this workshop from 4-5:30 with plenty of time for chatting and enjoying some tea.
What inspired this workshop and why attend: Elaheh’s Maman is in town and she dreamed of having her mother join a workshop. She is grateful to Marisa for opening the space at Creative Spirit to allow for this.
Elaheh and her Maman have been on a grief train for over a year, and each has had a different healing journey. Elaheh hopes to share this healing opportunity with the community so that we may all experience coexisting with joy and grief. Whether personal or collective, loss and grief are intrinsic to our human experiences, so perhaps we can find a way to face them, and within that process, find peace.
