Wellness For the People Festival: A Journey Towards Community Healing and Holistic Well-Being
On October 12, 2024, from 2-7 pm, the heart of Hollywood will beat to a different rhythm. Wellness For the People will take center stage at NeueHouse, welcoming all to an inclusive space designed to reconnect, restore, and recharge. This festival is more than just an event; it’s an intentional movement that embraces community and holistic well-being. For those seeking a deeper sense of connection and healing, this day promises to be a transformative experience.
Imagine stepping into a day filled with shared mindfulness, cultural celebration, and wellness practices that uplift the body, mind, and spirit. Whether you’re new to wellness or already on your journey, Wellness For the People offers a beautiful opportunity to explore healing modalities while engaging in meaningful conversations that matter. The festival’s impact extends beyond its attendees—it’s about creating a ripple effect where individual well-being contributes to the health of the larger community.
A Space for Impactful Connection
At its core, Wellness For the People is about creating a space where everyone—regardless of background—feels seen, heard, and supported. Founded by BIPOC leaders Natalie Valle and Paula Duran, the organization’s mission is to make wellness accessible and equitable for all, with a special focus on BIPOC communities. The wellness industry can often feel exclusive, a privilege for the few. This festival is intentionally designed to break those barriers, bringing wellness back to its roots: community, connection, and collective healing.
The day’s offerings have been thoughtfully curated to nourish both the individual and the community. From yoga and sound healing to conversations about belonging and social justice, the festival blends traditional and modern wellness practices in a way that resonates with today’s diverse audience. This is wellness reimagined—not just as self-care but as community care.
Highlighting Partners and Practices That Matter
Our brand partner, Nordic Naturals, a leader in wellness, provides the perfect foundation for the day. Their support ensures that each activity maximizes impact and aligns with Wellness For the People’s values. Nordic Naturals believes in the power of nourishment and community, and their presence at the festival speaks to their ongoing commitment to holistic health.
The event will kick off with a revitalizing yoga and sound bath session led by Marley Rae of WalkGood LA—an organization deeply rooted in social justice and wellness—and Natalie Valle of Wellness for the People and Latinas Who Meditate. Known for blending movement and mindfulness, WalkGood LA creates an environment where participants can tap into both physical and emotional release. The combination of yoga and sound bath offers the perfect reset, allowing attendees to center themselves and clear their minds before diving into the day’s experiences.
Afterward, attendees will be invited to engage in a powerful conversation panel featuring Kids of Immigrants, Hike Clerb, WalkGood LA, and Not Us Without You. This dynamic panel will explore critical topics around community and belonging, drawing from each organization’s unique expertise and grassroots efforts. It’s a rare chance to hear from leaders making real, tangible change in the world. Attendees will walk away not just inspired, but armed with actionable insights on how they, too, can make a difference.
At Wellness For the People, we believe that wellness extends beyond individual practices—it’s also about advocacy and action. The panel will highlight how these organizations work tirelessly to create safe, inclusive spaces while addressing social inequities. These conversations are the heartbeat of the festival, reminding us that wellness is not a luxury, but a human right.
Movement and Celebration
The day will culminate with a somatic movement session led by Amanda Martinez of The Class, a practice known for its unique blend of cathartic movement, mindfulness, and music. This session promises to offer both emotional and physical release, creating a space for participants to embody and process their personal and collective experiences. Through movement, attendees will reconnect with themselves in a way that goes beyond the intellect and into the heart.
But what’s a wellness festival without celebration? As the day transitions into the evening, we’ll gather for a joyful conclusion—a shared meal of empanadas, paired with refreshing mocktails from Kin Euphorics. This communal moment will be a chance to unwind, reflect, and connect with fellow attendees. After a day of deep introspection and healing, this celebration will remind us all of the power of community and the importance of honoring joy as a vital part of the wellness journey.
Why This Festival Matters
Wellness For the People is more than just another wellness event—it’s a call to action. In a world where many feel disconnected from themselves and each other, this festival offers a space to reimagine what wellness can look like when it’s inclusive, intentional, and community-driven. It’s about healing, not just for individuals but for the collective.
We live in a time when conversations around mental health, identity, and community are more urgent than ever. This festival brings those conversations to life in a way that is interactive, engaging, and deeply impactful. Whether you come for yoga, sound baths, or powerful discussions, you’ll leave with a renewed sense of purpose and belonging.
At its core, Wellness For the People is about fostering deep connections—with ourselves, with each other, and with the world around us. It’s about celebrating diversity, amplifying community voices, and creating a space where healing is accessible to all.
