Irish Dance Workshop for all ages

about this event

One of Riverdance’s leading ladies, Sinéad McCafferty-Hosch TCRG, along with a couple of competitive Irish dancing children will lead this event as we see, learn and experience a taste of the Irish dancing tradition.

Participants will learn basic steps from a reel and a light jig.

Sinéad was born in Ireland and she immigrated to Toronto, Canada with her family, when she was 18 months. Starting Irish dance at the age of three, by age nine she captured the first of ten consecutive Canadian Championship Titles. Throughout her competitive career she won numerous North American Championships, a Junior Cup and five World Champion medals.

Sinéad and her sister ran an Irish dance studio in Toronto, Canada for 7 years. She has over 25 years of experience teaching classes, private lessons and workshops and is now a certified Irish dance teacher affiliated with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha in Dublin Ireland. In 1999 Sinéad was offered a coveted position in ‘Riverdance The Show’. After the first six months of dancing in the troupe she was asked to start learning the female lead role. Her debut dancing the lead was on Broadway in 2000 at the Gershwin Theater in NYC, it was the home of ‘Riverdance on Broadway’ for a year and a half. Sinéad then toured all over the world with the show. Her final performance as principle lead dancer was for ‘Riverdance 10th Anniversary’ tour, at Radio City Music Hall. Sinéad now resides in LA with her husband and 3 children.
