Mama Glow & Sister Song: Black Maternal Health Week Mixer

about this event

Join Mama Glow & Sister Song at the Soft Space by Mama Glow, a premium wellness and education center in the heart of Williamsburg Brooklyn for an evening celebrating birth workers, community health workers, healthcare professionals making an impact in Black Maternal Health.

Held annually on April 11-17th, Black Maternal Health Week is a week-long campaign founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance to build awareness, activism, and community-building to amplify the voices, perspectives and lived experiences of Black Mamas and birthing people. This year’s theme is: Healing Legacies: Strengthening Black Maternal Health Through Collective Action and Advocacy. This theme addresses the deep disparities in maternal healthcare that Black women face. These disparities are rooted in historical injustices, systemic racism, and a lack of access to quality care. By advocating for collective action, we can create policies and community-driven solutions that uplift Black families, ensuring safer pregnancies, healthier outcomes, and a more equitable future for all. Collective action empowers communities to reclaim their health and rewrite the legacy of maternal justice.

This kind of work can help transform lives and ensure that Black maternal health is prioritized with urgency and care. Black Maternal Health impacts us all whether you are the person giving birth or part of their village and we can all do something to help eradicate the crisis.

Join us for an evening of celebration for Black Maternal Health Week. Connect with practitioners, community members as we celebrate wins and learn about all the work being done to advance maternal health and reproductive justice.
