Spa Palace

LA's best coed Korean Spa

Unlike every other best-of list for Korean spas, my top co-ed Korean Spa in LA is not Wi Spa. At Wii, there are televisions everywhere (yes, even in the sauna) so, instead of meditating or relaxing, you’re bombarded with news or Korean soap operas. Instead, my pick is Spa Palace.

Spa Palace does have a huge TV in its wet rooms and open jjimjilbang room, but the saunas and heated rooms are blissfully TV-free. The specialty rooms in the jjimjilbang are large and well-designed (I love the salt room in particular). And the gender-specific areas include all the standard Korean spa amenities: steam rooms, saunas, and both hot and cold plunge pools. There is also a restaurant and a co-ed pool floor, which would be a great place to hang out with a date. But I wouldn’t know — I always end up at Spa Palace on a whim and so have yet to have a swimsuit with me, which is required for the pool.

Spa Palace is 24/7, which can be a good thing if you want to hit the sauna after the club or sweat out that late night Korean BBQ (no judgement). However, with the super-affordable entrance fee, some people treat it as a cheap hotel room, creating an itinerant vibe in the late nights. I discovered this after an aforementioned club night when I showed up at 2:30am hoping for a scrub and the earliest I could get was 6am. I did have all of the hot rooms to myself, which made it worthwhile.

The facility provides both valet service and free self-parking (in Koreatown!) so it is easy to get there.
