Every trip to NYC, I make a stop at Amarcord Vintage Fashion, even if just to check out its window displays. This haven for high-end vintage clothing is renowned for its impeccable taste in upscale European womenswear, menswear, and accessories.
Through seasonal buying trips, founders Patti Bordoni and Marco Liotta diligently source their collection from brands like: Gucci, Fendi, Pucci, Prada, Versace, Missoni, Valentino, Ferré, Krizia, Roberta di Camerino, as well as esteemed labels like MaxMara, Romeo Gigli, Trussardi, Basile, Byblos, and fashion-forward designers such as Fiorucci and Touche. Yohji Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons, and more bring a modern edge.
Each season is treated as a complete collection, with thoughtfully coordinated outfit suggestions that reflect current fashion trends while incorporating styles from the past.
Patti worked in the music scene, managing cutting-edge nightclubs during the New-Wave era, writing for underground music magazines, and establishing her own record label. Patti’s passion for vintage clothing has remained steadfast throughout her journey, which led her to New York in 1991. Meanwhile, Marco Liotta, the son of a tailor, had always been drawn to fashion and pursued a career in retail, eventually crossing paths with Bordoni in 1999. Together, they gave birth to Amarcord.
In addition to the Williamsburg store, Amarcord operates a vintage Showroom/Archive, housing one of the largest collections of vintage clothing and accessories in the United States. With over 50,000 unique pieces from different styles and eras, starting from the Victorian period to the early 2000s, the Archive is a treasure trove sought after by designers, stylists, media professionals, and fashion industry insiders. Each item, be it a garment, footwear, bag, or piece of jewelry, is meticulously scouted and hand-selected.
