WHY IT’S CONSCIOUS: Connecting us with ancient civilizations and stars (not the Hollywood ones)

I must admit that when Keanu Reeves appeared in the season 2 trailer of Graham Hancock’s Ancient Apocalypse, I choked on my tea.

My father first gave me Graham’s book Fingerprints of the Gods sometime in my teens. It was much too dense for me to comprehend, but something in me kept it. It traveled with me from my hometown of Perth across Australia to Sydney when I moved. It was then, in my early 20s, that I started reading about Graham’s investigations and evidence of lost civilizations—something I had always felt existed in my blood. I was in.

Fast forward to 2012, when Graham toured Australia; you know I bought a ticket and was there. Then, 18 months later, I was lucky enough to take him to a sacred site just north of Sydney, thanks to my friend Sean Vandenberg. Not many of my friends—let alone mainstream media or even celebrities—were talking about Graham Hancock’s work at the time.

So when Netflix released season 1 of Ancient Apocalypse in 2022, I had to check my pulse and see if my car was still parked outside because it seemed like I was in another reality. When a major global media platform shares information like this, you know that our collective consciousness has shifted enough for more people to receive it. And low and behold, it became the second most-watched series on Netflix in the week of its release.

And now we are bestowed with a second season. When the trailer popped up, I was truly excited, but no one had warned me about the Keanu Reeves cameo, and I did choke, then squeal. In the trailer Keanu says “as a kid I always thought the timeline was off”. It turns out Keanu may have more to do with Neo than we ever thought, and I am very much here for it.

Season 2 of Ancient Apocalypse premieres Wednesday, October 16, on Netflix.
