Dear Sir David Attenborough, Björk has Entered the Chat

WHY IT’S CONSCIOUS: This documentary connect us to & teaches us about the natural world

As we reflect on cute surprises not on our 2023 bingo card, one of our favorites is that Björk lent her voice to a film about fungi. While we’ve been in the era of Fungi at the Forefront for a little while now, it’s not showing any signs of letting up (hello, more legalization of psychedelics).

In this made for IMAX film, “Fungi: Web of Life,” off-planet-looking ‘shrooms and colors are showcased like never before in the ancient Tarkine rainforest of Tasmania, while on a quest with the British biologist, Dr. Merlin Sheldrake, to find a super-rare blue mushroom.

Look, Sir David Attenborough still reigns as King in the nature documentary world for us, but when a Dr. called Merlin and an IRL fairy called Björk do collab about shrooms, we’re lining up for a ticket. I mean really, you could not have cast a better voice simply because fairies have always had a folkloric relationship with mushrooms. If you’ve ever come across a fairy ring you might have been told they were created by fairies dancing in a circle. The mushrooms within the ring are thought to be a barrier between the fairy world and the human world. Enter the ring and you’ll be transported to another realm, or it could bring bad luck! Whether seen as portals to magical realms or simply as captivating displays of nature’s wonders, fairy rings continue to evoke a sense of mystery and enchantment in the collective human consciousness. Björk’s fairy-like voice in this documentary will only add to the continuation of this mystery for generations to come.

Per the trailer channel: “The film will be trickling into IMAX cinemas across Europe and North America over the latter part of 2023 and into 2024” you can check up-to-date screening dates and locations at fungimovie.com. And don’t worry Sir David Attenborough, you do make nature shine best with your wizard voice.
