Letting Go: Guided Meditation for Autumn

about this event

Autumn is the season of the harvest: when we discern what is useful and necessary, and let the rest fall away. How do we react to endings and loss — both the profound and mundane? How do we discern what is useful and valuable?

Join Living Tea leader Rachel E. Maley for a brief discussion on detachment and the lessons of the Autumn season, followed by guided meditation. Please prepare a comfortable place to sit for meditation, whether on a cushion on the floor or in a firm chair. Guidance will be given on comfortable postures for all bodies.

About Your Instructor

Rachel Elizabeth Maley is a leader of Living Tea and the creator of Still Life Meditation, a center for meditation and self-inquiry in downtown Elgin, IL. An artist since a young age, Rachel has practiced meditation in various forms for more than 20 years. Particularly influenced by Zen and Cha Dao (the Way of Tea), Rachel’s practice is defined by what a mentor calls “expert noticing”— a consistent desire to pay attention, learn more, and delight in even the smallest of things.
