On Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 11 am – 4 pm, the communities of Austin, Oak Park, Maywood, Forest Park, River Forest, and Melrose Park will come together at the Walther Christian Academy (900 Chicago Ave: [Walther Christian Academy, Melrose Park, IL]) to celebrate health, wellness, and education while spotlighting the black experience in celebration of Juneteenth. As in past years, the festival is free, and this year, the festival holds extra significance as we honor the ultra-spirited life of Kenneth Monarrez with a 3k walk/run in tribute to his unwavering spirit. 

The festival will feature a range of engaging and educational activities for all ages, including West Communities Collaborative’s inspiring Juneteenth traveling museum, music by DJ FlyTy, dance showcases, food vendor competition, CrossFit, group meditation, yoga featuring Coach Sidney (Yogaletics), a live performance by recording artist Queen Prophecy or sink Forest Park Mayor Hoskins in our Dunk Tank plus much more.
