Five Elements Series: Ecstatic Breathwork for Autumn

about this event

In the Taoist Five Element framework, Autumn is the season of Metal. During the harvest, the scythe cuts and saves what is useful and necessary, and the rest is returned to the Earth. In the discernment of what is valuable and worth keeping, the Metal element inspires discernment, refinement, and profound letting go. Just as the leaves fall from the trees, how can we allow for effortless detachment in our lives? The key lies in consistent dissolution of physical tension, creating space for flow and transformation in the body.

Ecstatic Breathwork is a powerful rhythmic breathing practice to release tension, dissolve stagnant energy, and drop into deep relaxation. Reset your nervous system and touch the experience of effortless detachment in this experience of profound release.

Join Living Tea leader Rachel E. Maley for a brief discussion of the Autumn season and the Metal element, followed by guided Ecstatic Breathwork practice. Prepare a supportive and comfortable place to lie down. Suggested supplies:

  • cushion or blanket to lie on
  • blanket for warmth
  • pillow or bolster for under your knees to support the lower back and belly
