WITH KENNY COMELLO & THE BIG SUR HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Jade is a precious stone with a vibrant history—and Big Sur Jade Company’s Kenny Comello has been at the forefront of it all since the early 70s. From mining the stone by hand in remote caves to ocean dives leading to the extraction of large jade boulders, Kenny has dedicated much of his life to bringing this enchanted stone to the people. In this special talk hosted by the Big Sur Historical Society you’ll have the opportunity to see actual examples of Jade mined from the ocean, an array of jewelry pieces featuring the finished stone, as well as a one-of-a-kind video chronicling the work of local Jade diver and sculptor, Don Wobber. Kenny brings a passion for off-the-grid living and a rich Big Sur history to this unique storytelling event.
Thursday, June 27th, 6 – 8:00pm, Upstairs in the Village, Big Sur (free with RSVP)
