Earth Day Garden Party

about this event

Join us this Earth Day for a community volunteer gathering centered in stewardship, honoring the land, sea, and first peoples of San Diego. We will begin the day in opening circle, then break out into stations in the garden at Paradise Valley Farm. We’ll be planting trees and helping with farm tasks to support Indigenous Regeneration’s mission of food sovereignty for Kumeyaay families on the San Pasqual Reservation. Lunch will be provided thanks to Clevr Blends, and afterwards, we will go for a community sunset surf and close the day in gratitude by the sea. Thanks to organizations Native Like Water and Un Mar de Colores for the support in bringing together the surf and farming communities of North County, San Diego!

Many hands make for light work and together we can create broader access to fresh, organic produce to those who need it the most!

We’ll be breaking out into 4 stations:

1) PLANTING: planting oak trees along the riparian trail as we clear the path for future plant walks

2) BUILDING: those with tools and building experience can help to build a stage for the education station

3) CREATING SHADE: preparing the farm for summer by elevating a protective shade structure

4) ORGANIZING: overhaul of the wash station and storage areas where food is prepped and packaged before delivery
