Easing into the energy of 2019 under the first new moon of the year, we will gather to receive the blessings of the Goddesses of Air. The season of Yule, which energetically peaks at the Winter Solstice and lasts until mid-January, is a time when the wheel of the year slows to a point of stillness as the sun appears to stop in the sky on the darkest night of the year. The divine invitation during Winter Solstice is to pause, rest, and reflect. In the Priestess of Avalon tradition we honor the Mother of Air, the ancient Irish goddess Danu, Arianrhod of the stars, and the Celtic goddess the Cailleach. The Cailleach is an owl goddess and an old woman beyond time. She is stone woman, bone woman, things that withstand time and remain beyond the cycle of life.
At Samhain, the energy is about releasing and letting go, dying to the old and creating space for rebirth. Yule is the space between death and rebirth, a vast starry night sky or an expansive horizon. As we are slowly growing into the light, moving toward the fist stirring of spring at Imbolc on February 1st, we have the opportunity to receive insights and fresh perspectives from the goddesses of Yule.
On the first new moon of the year we will contemplate all that we would like to experience and create in 2019. With the support of the Cailleach we will connect with the timeless wisdom within, placing our heartfelt desires and intentions onto the wings of Her owl to carry forward beyond the veils.
Please bring a journal and pen, and a feather, bell, or sound tool you would like to charge on the altar.
Please dress in the colors of the season, grey, silver, and white. Happy New Year!! Blessed Be.
